Levator scapulae

This muscle, joind to the base of the skull and the top of the shoulder blade (scapula), lifts the shoulder blade vertically upwards and rotates it a little outwards - in effect, it's one of your main 'shrugging' muscles. It also tilts the head, if the shoulder blade is fixed. Probably not of major importance in archery except for a secondary role in positioning the scapula.
